Remembering Tom (Papa Tom)
Tom, affectionately known as Papa Tom, was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, and grew up in Fort Pierce. In his 20s and 30s, he lived in Western Massachusetts before settling in Fort Myers in his 40s, where he enjoyed the warm climate and fishing. He is survived by five siblings, his sons, stepdaughters, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family members. Tom's mother initiated an annual family gathering on Cape Cod in 1982, which continued for 35 years, creating cherished memories. He was an active carpet installer and estimator up until his passing, and his family expresses their gratitude to his employer, Abbey Carpet. Tom's friendships were profound, with many enjoying his humor and camaraderie during game nights and fishing trips. A memorial service will be organized later, and in lieu of flowers, contributions to a local food bank are encouraged. Tom's legacy is one of kindness, laughter, and the joy of living each day to its fullest, a sentiment he would want his loved ones to uphold in his memory.
